INDEPENDENT BUSINESS · FOUNDER & CREATIVE DIRECTOR · 2025–PRESENT
J.GRANT
From product concept to a live commerce business.
I founded J.GRANT and own the decisions that connect the garment to the customer: product development, sourcing, creative direction, pricing, inventory and commerce operations.
Starting with low-rise swimwear, I brought product specifications, campaign direction and a Shopify-backed buying experience into one business. I coordinate production and creative partners while managing the practical work of getting products to market.

Bring the product to market

Translate design decisions into physical products
Silhouette, construction, monogram and color choices make the assortment tangible.
The current brief pairs a low rise and high-cut leg with a darted front without a center seam. An adjustable internal drawstring and double-layer front lining support the fit; the back carries the JG monogram.
Subsequent master-block work addresses projection, side containment, tension and leg-opening balance as fit-development requirements, distinct from the existing product.
Connect the product to the buying experience
Product education and purchase selection sit alongside the operating work behind each order.

Make commercial decisions with limited resources
Focus the offer, manage commitments and coordinate the work needed to get products to market.
- Focus the stocked offer
- I centered the commercial offer on swimwear with meaningful stock, keeping limited apparel and accessories as direct-sale or styling considerations.
- Align price and landed cost
- I aligned retail pricing, landed product cost and buyer terms before making wholesale commitments.
- Coordinate partners with launch timing
- I connected supplier work and creative deliverables to inventory production, distinguishing campaign imagery and social crops from product-page assets.
Campaign production · Behind the scenes with the photography team. - Iterate the physical product
- Subsequent fit-development requirements addressed projection, side containment, tension and leg-opening balance, with a reusable master block as the next development direction.
Problem & objectives
Build a distinctive product and make the business operable.
A garment and a working business
The objective was to bring a distinctive low-rise swimwear offer to market and make the business behind it operable. Product specifications, positioning and buying decisions had to work together with sourcing, stock and fulfillment.
Decisions & trade-offs
Keep product requirements, assortment and commitments aligned.
Product and fit requirements
The current swim brief uses a low-rise silhouette, high-cut leg and darted front without a center seam, with an internal adjustable drawstring, double-layer front lining and a back monogram. Subsequent master-block requirements address projection, side containment, tension and leg-opening balance; these are next-stage development requirements, not changes already shipped.
Assortment and stock discipline
I focused the commercial offer on swimwear with meaningful stock, leaving limited apparel and accessories as direct-sale or styling considerations. I aligned pricing, landed product cost and buyer terms before wholesale commitments.
Experience & systems
Connect product education and checkout with day-to-day operations.
Shopify-backed buying experience
I operate the Shopify-backed catalog and storefront: product content and photography, color and size variants, size guidance, purchase selection and checkout. The live PDP brings these responsibilities together in the customer experience.
Operating the business
I manage inventory, fulfillment coordination and customer service alongside supplier work. I also manage Amazon marketplace testing, listings and fulfillment planning.
Delivery & validation
Coordinate production and creative partners around getting products to market.
Product development and partner direction
I coordinate sampling, fit, construction and production partners, translating design intent into product specifications and review requirements. Subsequent development work asks for a reusable master block, graded specifications, measurement guidance and construction notes.
Campaign delivery and launch timing
I direct campaign concepts, photography, styling and creative deliverables. The campaign plan distinguished hero imagery and social crops from product-page assets, coordinating creative work with inventory production and launch timing. Campaign imagery and identity studies establish a consistent visual direction across brand touchpoints.
Outcomes & learning
Launch evidence across product, brand and commerce; continued operating responsibility.
The business in market
The launched swim brief assortment, campaign assets and live storefront show product, brand and commerce working together. I continue to own sourcing, inventory, fulfillment coordination, customer service and commercial decisions.
Further product exploration
Exploratory research considers adaptive fit through stretch, recovery and localized construction, alongside longevity and material considerations. This exploratory work informs future product development.
